Adventures in Stamping

I want to post more, but this last week both of my girls were sick, then generously shared their cold with me. So it's been a rough week.

Anyway...the challenge for this week in the Adventures in Stamping group was tape and stamping.
I had a really hard time coming up with an idea for this one. I have some striping tape that I haven't used yet, but couldn't think of a way to use it. I went through so many different ideas before ending up with this design. I LOVE it! It took me forever to land with this, I kept messing up nails, changing my design, it was frustrating, but the end result is beautiful.

I started with 2 coats of Sinful Colors- Easy Going, then did one coat of Sinful Colors- Glass Pink for a little shimmer. It was at this point that I decided to actually use tape. So I put a piece of scotch tape down the center and painted Orly-Miss Conduct on half of the nail. Then stamped with Konad Special White and BM-321. Topped with one coat of Out the Door.

I think it's amazing. But I may be biased :)

I think this would be really pretty in the sun, but it's currently snowing here in Idaho, so I probably won't get a chance to see it in the sun this time :(

Adventures in Stamping

I joined the Adventures in Stamping group on facebook, and this is the first week I've done a challenge mani.
I got this polish on clearance at Sally's a few days ago, it's China Glaze-Want my Bawdy. It's really pretty, can only really be described as blurple. In some light it looks purple, in other light, very blue. My camera doesn't capture purple very well.

I started with 2 coats of Want my Bawdy, after seeing it in the light, I should have used 3 coats. Then I used Konad Special White and BM-317 for the heart accent nail. Topped with one coat of Out the Door.

My first glitter sandwich

I wanted to try something different that I'd never done before. I've seen a lot of glitter sandwiches, or jelly sandwiches, and really wanted to try it. I didn't really know what kind of polishes are typically used for this, so I used Essie- Marshmallow. It was sheer enough that I figured it would work.

I started with 2 coats of Marshmallow, then 2 coats of LA Colors- Jewel Tone. Jewel Tone is a gorgeous mix of blue and purple micro glitter in a clear base. I topped that with one more coat of Marshmallow and one coat of Out the Door topcoat.

I ended up loving this! I realized I don't have many chunky glitters in my collection, which are probably pretty good for this. I really want to try this with more colors, but I need to find some jelly polishes to do this with.

Green Houndstooth

I decided not to buy any new nail polish until I had tried every polish in my stash....until I saw this color :) I had to have it! It's Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear- Mint Sorbet. I used 2 coats for the photo below, it went on perfectly and looks so pretty.

Then I used e.l.f.- Green Machine and BM-322 for the houndstooth pattern. It didn't fully transfer on my ring finger, but I liked how it turned out. I love these colors together.

I love gray!

One of my favorite colors is gray. So I decided to try a gradient with gray and white. I used e.l.f.- Misty Haze and LA Colors- Energy Source. I really liked the way it turned out. Then I used Konad Special Black and BM-310 for the design. I loved this mani!

Day 24: Inspired by a book

One of these days, I'm going to finish this challenge! It's a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. I finally decided to do One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. It was my favorite book when I was little, and I love reading it to my kids now.

I got a set of nail art brushes for Christmas, and was excited to use them. This is the first time I've really tried brushes to freehand a design...it didn't turn out awesome, I need some practice. It was a bit messy, which is a lot more obvious in this picture than I realized! But one challenge down, maybe I'll get this done after all.

Happy New Year!

I got this pretty purple at Maurices. And it appears to be nameless. It has this slight silvery shimmer to it that is so pretty. I used an eyeshadow applicator to sponge on LA Colors- Sparkling Diamonds. It almost looked like little disco balls, so cute. Then I used the numbers from BM-320 and BM-313 for the year!
